Shadow came to us in the dead of winter, right around Christmastime—a season meant for joy, laughter, and love. But for Shadow, life had been anything but that.
She survived Alberta’s harsh climate for years—freezing winters with no shelter but what she could find, and scorching summers spent searching desperately for water and food. Her life had been one of pure survival.
In her twilight years, Shadow finally found hope. We rescued her and knew she deserved comfort, warmth, and love in her final chapter, so we made the decision to place her in a forever foster home. And we were incredibly lucky—along came Amber.
Amber has been Shadow’s angel. Now, she’s safe, warm, and finally surrounded by care and love.
But giving Shadow this second chance also made her a financial dependent of the rescue. She receives monthly injections for her arthritis and requires pain medication to stay comfortable. Her diet needs to be carefully balanced to support her aging body, and we’re committed to making the rest of her life as peaceful and pain-free as possible.
