Hello! I’m Ares, a joyful 2.5-year-old, 40-pound male husky/Aussie Shepherd mix with distinct facial and ear markings that make me truly one-of-a-kind. My loving and outgoing nature means I adore my people wholeheartedly, thriving on both giving and receiving affection. Cuddling on laps is definitely one of my favorite pastimes!
I get along famously with children, most dogs, and even cats, making me quite the family companion. I respond well to simple commands and walk nicely on a lead, showcasing my surprisingly calm disposition. You might find me lounging peacefully on my back, legs in the air, soaking up the sunlight! While I can get a bit excited in new situations or when meeting other dogs (thanks to my husky side, I can be a little chatty) I’m easily calmed with a toy, treat, or gentle voice command.
My wonderful foster mom ensures I have daily socialization with a variety of people and dogs, including living with two Shepherds and other fosters. I have fantastic house manners and I’m fully house-trained. I’m eager to learn, quick to pick up new skills, and aim to please my humans! My energetic spirit means I would thrive in activities like agility, rally obedience, dock diving, hiking, or flyball—anything that lets me run and jump! Therefore a well fenced yard would be imperative.
Food is definitely a motivator for me, which makes training a fun and rewarding adventure. My ideal forever home would be with an active family that has young children—I’m gentle and love playing with kids! I do best in an environment with another K9 companion as I also love the interaction with another dog.
